20 years of Washer Motor Coverage Now Available from Samsung

New Samsung washer owners will soon have one of the best motor coverages in the market.

Since 2018 Samsung has been building washers domestically out of a 450,000-square-foot factory in Newberry, S.C. They have invested around $500 million in the facility by adding an additional 151,000 square feet, installing two manufacturing and assembly lines that now include 20 presses and 30 injection molding machines.

Samsung plans to extend their OEM warranty coverage of its new digital inverter tub motors to 20 years. This will double the length of its current coverage, which is one of the industry’s most generous.

The new 20-year motor rule only applies to washers assembled in the U.S. and purchased by the consumer on or after July 1, 2022. To file a future claim, customers will need to provide a purchase receipt with the actual purchase date.

Samsung said the extended motor warranty is intended “to further encourage sustainable consumption habits” as part of its drive to reduce its environmental footprint. It was announced during a Bespoke Home 2022 media event in Korea when the company debuted their first Bespoke laundry pair.
