Consumer Product Safety Commission reports about 132,000 GE free-standing and slide-in electric and gas ranges sold at Lowe’s, Home Depot, Best Buy and other home improvement appliance stores from May 2021 through July 2021 can tip over when heavy objects are placed on an open oven door and the anti-tip-over bracket is not secured to the wall or floor. They are recalling them because they pose a tip-over hazard and risk of burn injuries from hot food or liquids.
The December recall involves GE, GE Profile, Café, Haier, Hotpoint, Crosley and Conservator (30”, 24” and 20”) free-standing, slide-in electric and gas ranges. Model number and serial number are printed on label and starts with “HS” or “LS” and ends with “P”.
Consumers can call GE Appliances at 877-247-9770 to determine if their unit is recalled. To schedule a free in-home service call to inspect the recalled range’s anti-tip bracket and ensure its installed securely. Consumers can use their recalled ranges but are cautioned to not place any objects on open oven door until the anti-tip bracket has been inspected and repaired. Consumers should not return the recalled ranges to the place of purchase, as retailers are not prepared to take the units back.
