During CES 2022 Samsung introduced its first dedicated SmartThings hub device. They also announced the launch an assortment of compatible bespoke appliances including Family Hub fridges and a combo washer/dryer.
The Samsung Home Hub is designed for the household and will be a central place to control and monitor a smart home.
The tablet is portable and the touchscreen has Samsung’s Bixby voice assistant built-in and uses AI to anticipate consumer’s needs. The Home Hub sits in a charging dock and has two speakers to hear and two microphones for voice commands.
It allows you to monitor and control SmartThings-connected gear. The hub will allow you to turn on/off compatible lights and monitor the energy consumption on a TV.
Samsung reported when launched, the Home Hub will able to connect to all products within the SmartThings ecosystem. They said they plan to integrate SmartThings hub software into many of their smart appliances. Theirs is not US release date or pricing yet. The launch will start in Korea in March and globally thereafter.
