Panasonic Corporation has announced to make a commitment to achieving net zero CO2 emissions within all its operating companies by 2030. This is a milestone to realize the “Panasonic Environmental Vision 2050” formulated back in 2017.
To achieve this commitment, they created a “Panasonic Green Impact” strategy, to help reduce CO2 emissions. The program will impact and accelerate a society-wide energy revolution.
Many of Panasonic’s sustainable initiatives is the resin recycling from home appliances where they are expanding the applications of resin recycled from obsolete home appliances. Their proprietary technology allows for rapid classification and collection of three types of resin in highly purified form.
Panasonic Eco Technology Center (Petec), is their recycling facility in Japan. This is where they are recovering valuable resources such as plastic, iron and copper at a high degree of purity from end-of- refrigerators, washing machines, televisions and air conditioners. Resins are extracted and begin their new role as recycled materials and transformed into new products.
Panasonic is working to develop technologies to recycling resources, while also minimizing their resource investment at the manufacturing stage to improve the quality.
