Can a refrigerator really be an object of desire? Yes when it is a Sub-Zero refrigerator.

Sub-Zero is very special; you can buy it as a refrigerator, a freezer and even a wine storage unit

Sub-Zero  which has a sprawling 200-acre headquarters in Fitchburg — just outside Madison, Wisconsin —has made quality their cornerstone. The 77 year old appliance company was started in a garage by founder, Westye Bakke. Bakke was the son of Norwegian immigrants who worked as a refrigerator salesman for another company. He founded Sub-Zero in 1945 with three employees, including his son, Bud, who is Jim Bakke’s father.

Bakke was the first to make an upright freezer with doors opening out. Also was the first to create separate sealed refrigerator and freezer compartments into one unit. He was able to maintain temperatures below zero, which was hard, so he named his company Sub-Zero.

All the appliances are US made, mostly in Fitchburg where around 2,000 employees work. Every refrigerator is run through intensive quality testing. Sub-Zero is known to do 100% testing on everything that they manufacture.

Sub-Zero may be pricy for some but their beautiful refrigerator models can be covered in almost anything that make them a favorite of interior designers. The company attention to detail like growing  lettuce to make sure it stays fresh after two weeks in a Sub-Zero refrigerator.
