Elmira Stove Works, Retro-look Appliance Maker gets Acquired and Rebrands

Elmira known for their 1950s-style kitchen appliances

Canadian manufacturer, Elmira Stove Works has been acquired by Ontario-based conglomerate Plaintree Systems. Since 1975 the vintage-style kitchen appliance company has been making and distributing retro-look ranges, refrigerators, microwaves, wall ovens, range hoods, dishwashers and wood-burning stoves.

Elmira currently serves a network of over 300 dealers across North America. Its product line includes 1850s- and 1950s-inspired products under the Northstar, Heritage and Fireview sub-brands.

The company was purchased by Plaintree Systems a diversified manufacturer that focuses on aerospace, telecommunications, and structural design sectors. David Watson, their CEO was quoted “He was impressed by the quality and uniqueness of their lines and first expressed interest in acquiring the business in 2013.”

Elmira’s sales and marketing teams will stain in intact to maintain the company’s consumer and dealer focus. Plaintree plans to rebrand the company/products and launch a new enhanced website.

The company has relocated Elmira’s headquarters and manufacturing to Plaintree’s state-of-the-art facility in Arnipor, Ontario; while keeping sales and their showroom in their hometown of Elmira.
