Samsung Electronics Home Appliances America (SEHA) recently celebrated their fifth U.S. anniversary of their newer appliance plant in Newbury County, S.C. They hosted a gathering of politicians, factory workers and company executives last month to celebrate the milestone occasion.
In 2017, when Samsung first put their plans together to build the state of the art home appliance factory at the Newberry facility which is now an essential part of the local economy. They invested nearly $500 million in the facility, produced over 4 million washing machines and now directly supports over 1,500 jobs for local residents as part of its ongoing operations.
The special ceremony held in South Carolina included special guests Governor Henry McMaster, Congressman Jeff Duncan and Mark Lippert, Executive Vice President, Head of Public Affairs, Samsung Electronics America.
“Since choosing South Carolina as the location of its first U.S.-based manufacturing facility five years ago, Samsung has become a key member of Team South Carolina,” the governor said. “They have helped lead a new era of prosperity in our state and have made a tremendous impact in Newberry. We look forward to continuing our fruitful partnership for years to come.”
Samsung was quoted, “As we looked at our growing home appliance business in the U.S., we knew establishing an American manufacturing presence would allow us to deliver home appliances to our customers faster and better reflect U.S. consumer preference.”
