To help ease supply chain issues near the Port of Los Angeles, GE Appliances opened of its newest West Coast distribution center (ADC) California.
The new center is located in Dixon, Calif., near Sacramento and will help reduce delivery times by half for dealers in northern California, Southern Oregon and Western Nevada. Most retailers in these regions will now have next-day deliveries.
The LEED®-certified warehouse also houses GEA Air & Water Solutions’ and will included a training facility for professional contractors and distributors. The energy efficient warehouse offers a place for them to learn the latest HVAC technology developments including high-efficiency ductless systems. Learning how to install these and other HVAC products that will reduce homeowners’ energy costs.
VP Marcia Brey was quoted, “Strengthening relationships with our customers is at the forefront of our decision-making at GE Appliances. We’re excited to be able to better serve them with this new facility, which will allow us to reach local customers in half the time while supporting operational efficiency and our sustainability goals.”
The new warehouse includes:
· A fully electric fleet of forklifts powered by lithium batteries, which reduce wastewater associated with changing traditional batteries.
· LED lighting which reduces the number of fixtures required to illuminate the space to save energy.
· Sustainable bioswales around the warehouse which help filter storm run-off and recharge ground water.
The Dixon ADC employs 50 people. The building was designed and built by ARCO National Construction, a leader in the design-build industry with offices nationwide. It is owned by Scannell Properties, a privately owned real estate development company that develops projects throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.
